How much do you pay?

As of January 2023, IHSS providers are paid $18.20 per hour and $27.30 for overtime (overtime limits apply). 

Who will be my employer?

The IHSS consumer is the employer. The Public Authority Registry refer providers’ names to IHSS consumers who are looking to hire a homecare provider. The Public Authority is handles your payroll.

Will you train me?

We offer free, virtual workshops via Zoom to help you learn homecare skills. Workshop participation is not mandatory and IHSS Providers are not paid for attendance. For more information, visit our Online Caregiving Workshops.

We will also reimburse you up to $400 per fiscal year (July 1 – June 30) to take classes and attend conferences. The class has to be preapproved, see the instructions on the applications: Job Development Application (English) Job Development Application (Spanish)

IHSS and Waiver Personal Care Services (WPCS) Providers who have completed provider/registry enrollment are eligible to register for the IHSS Career Pathways Program training courses and can be compensated for time spent attending and completing training courses. The In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Career Pathways Program is an exciting optional program that provides training opportunities to enhance providers skills. For more information about the IHSS Career Pathways Program, click here

Will I be eligible for Benefits?

Do I get paid vacation and sick time, or holidays off?

We do not offer paid vacation or holidays. IHSS providers currently working became eligible to receive Paid sick leave hours on July 1, 2018. Use this Paid Sick Leave Form and submit to the address on the back of the form if you wish to utilize these hours. 

What will my work schedule be like as a Registry Provider?

Being a Registry Provider means you can have a very flexible schedule. You can choose what days and hours you work. We do not assign schedules. You will work out your schedule with your client, based on their need and your availability.

What if I have issues with my client?

The Public Authority will support you in resolving issues that may arise.
