There are two sources of information on ICD-10 Codes. Please refer to either:
- The American Psychiatric Association’s DSM website for mental health diagnoses and the associated ICD-10 codes (Recommended).
- The ICD-10 Tabular on the CMS Website (a bit more difficult to navigate).

QM CalAIM Live Webinar Schedule 2025 – Updated 4/16/2025
While the Z-Code training listed in the flier is listed as a MH only training, much of the content is also applicable to SUD providers, with the exception of information that is specifically stated to be applicable to SMHS. SUD providers may take this training to learn more about Z-codes that indicate Social Determinants of Health.
Accessing Webinar Recordings via LMS
BHRS Staff:
To access LMS training, you must first be signed into LMS. Please
access LMS through OKTA. Once, you are signed in, you may click
on the training link. If you are not able to access/search the
playlist, you will need to allow 24hrs for LMS to update the
system to give you access.
Contractors:
To access LMS training, you must first be signed into LMS. If you
don’t have an LMS account or need to reset your password, please
reach out to Mercedes Medal at mmedal@smcgov.org. Once, you have
created an account, if you are not able to access/search the
playlist, you will need to allow 24hrs for LMS to update the
system to give you access.

CalAIM Related Polices
The following policies were developed by CalMHSA and adopted by BHRS to be in compliance with the CalAIM changes.
- Policy 22-01: Criteria for Beneficiary Access to SMHS, Medical Necessity and Other Coverage Requirements
- Policy 22-02: DMC-ODS Requirements for the Period of 2022-2026
- Policy 22-03: No Wrong Door for Mental Health Services
- Policy 22-04: Documentation Requirements for all SMHS, ODS and DMC-ODS

5150 TRAINING
This training is intended for BHRS staff, contractors, and other contracted non-BHRS providers (Mills Hospital, VA, Kaiser Permanente, Sutter Health) to complete the San Mateo County 5150 Certification Training Requirements.
BHRS has contracted with CalMHSA (California Mental Health Services Authority) to provide our staff and contractors with a 5150 training. This is a required training for any BHRS staff, contracted clinical or hospital staff requesting 5150 writing privileges. The purpose of this training is to provide a basic orientation to the current laws governing involuntary detention. There will be a monthly live training to attend, or you can watch the recorded training.

- At the end of the training there is a certification issued. Please provide QM with a copy of the certification so we can issue a 5150 certification card.
- If you are issued a 5150 card from San Mateo County, BHRS Quality Management will email you or your agency representative the card within 7 days of providing a copy of the certification.
- If you do not receive an emailed 5150 card from San Mateo County BHRS Quality Management, you are not certified to write a hold in San Mateo County.
