Public Authority Advisory Committee
The Public Authority partners with San Mateo County In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) to deliver a service-model committed to enhance the lives of older adults and persons living with disabilities who choose to live independently with dignity in their homes and community. Public Authorities were established to act as the Employer of Record for the IHSS Provider services and to operate a Registry of caregivers to match providers with recipients in need of a provider.
The Public Authority is a separate public agency from San Mateo County and is governed by the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors with input from an advisory committee.
The Public Authority Advisory Committee is dedicated to supporting the independence and dignity of older adults and persons with disabilities. The Advisory Committee provides an opportunity for In‐Home Supportive Services (IHSS) recipients, caregivers, advocates, and other interested stakeholders to participate in the development of Public Authority policy, services and programs.
The Public Authority Advisory Committee is comprised of 5 members who are appointed by the Board of Supervisors. Committee members commit to:
- Continuing education about IHSS and Public Authority issues.
- Provide ongoing public input and assistance regarding Public Authority policy, program development and services.
- Participate in community outreach and educational activities.
If you are interested in more information or would like to serve as a member of the Committee, please contact Estella Castillo at (650) 743-6830 or ecastillo1@smcgov.org.
