BHRS Director's Newsletter

Post

Dr. Jei AfricaHappy summer. This month, we are spotlighting moments that sparked meaningful dialogue, expanded access to culturally responsive education, and strengthened connection across our community.

In this issue, you will read about the San Mateo County Pride Celebration, which welcomed more than 4,000 attendees to Central Park; a bilingual community event that advanced awareness and support around eating disorders and disordered eating; and the San Mateo County Overdose Prevention Coalition’s critical efforts to expand naloxone access and prevent overdose deaths. Together, these initiatives reflect our continued commitment to advancing equity and addressing behavioral health disparities across the communities we serve.

July also marks the start of Proposition 1 implementation. Our teams have been preparing for months to ensure alignment with new requirements. While changes on July 1 may not be immediately visible, you can expect to see steady progress over time as these efforts strengthen and improve our system of care.

Wishing you a safe and restorative summer season.

Dr. Jei Africa
