San Mateo County Tops State Health Rankings
#1 in health outcomes

San Mateo County has been named as one of the healthiest counties in California according to The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s annual rankings of California’s 58 counties. San Mateo County came in at No. 1 this year. The County Health Rankings data give a glimpse of San Mateo County’s health as a community and provides a starting point for prioritizing ways to make improvements.

San Mateo County relies on the economic prosperity of the County, the leadership support and partnership relationships to support longer and better lives for all residents. Without these resources, we would be unlikely to achieve a #1 ranking as the healthiest county in the state.

And while our county ranks at the top for health, we recognize that the opportunities for health are not distributed equitably. San Mateo County Health System remains committed to furthering the strategies that enable everyone to be healthy, including preventing the conditions that lead to illness, especially for those who have shouldered the greatest disparities. Our strong safety net strives to deliver the right care at the right time and place.
