May 30 – Nourishing Wellness: A Community Conversation on Eating Disorders 

The Behavioral Health and Recovery Services Health Ambassador Program and the Office of Supervisor Ray Mueller invite you to attend Nourishing Wellness: A Community Conversation on Eating Disorders on Saturday, May 30 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Regional Operations Center in Redwood City. The presentation will be conducted in Spanish with English interpretation available. Please register in advance. 

June 9-11 – Youth Substance Use Prevention & Advocacy Academy 

The San Mateo County Overdose Prevention Coalition invites Jefferson Union High School District students to apply to a 3-day Youth Leadership Academy. Attendees will build leadership and prevention skills, design real campaigns that make an impact and learn how to make change in your community. Apply here by June 5.  

When: June 9–11, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. 
Where: JUHSD District Office. 123 Edgemont Dr, Daly City CA.

June 13 – San Mateo County Pride Celebration 

San Mateo County’s 14th Annual Pride Celebration is almost here! Join us on Saturday June 13 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. at San Mateo Central Park. This free and sober event is a space to champion inclusion and wellness for LGBTQIA+ folks and allies in our county. There will be live entertainment, DJ, resource and vendor booths, food trucks, family-friendly activities and more. Come celebrate our community’s effort to build a connected, supportive and well San Mateo County for all!    

FREE LGBTQ+ Trainings from the Pride Center! 

There are still chances in June to take a free training offered by the San Mateo County Pride Center. Learn about the LGBTQ+ community, terms, issues that impact the community, and how to be an active partner in the fight for equity. Visit sanmateopride.org/events/ for June trainings and other events.

Where to Get Naloxone in San Mateo County 

The San Mateo County Overdose Prevention Coalition has been expanding access to the lifesaving medication that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose within minutes via the naloxone stand box program. Check out the naloxone resource map to find where free naloxone is available in your community. More locations to be added soon. 

Congratulations to our 2026 Tony Hoffman Award Recipients! 

Tony Hoffman 2025 award recipients San Mateo County Health has presented the Tony Hoffman Community Mental Health Services Award to several individuals and organizations that have made an extraordinary difference in the lives of people with mental health challenges and the communities they live in. This year’s recipients, pictured right, reflect the spirit of the award through their leadership, advocacy, innovation, compassion, and commitment to reducing stigma and strengthening mental health support across San Mateo County. 

Mental Health Month Photovoice Gallery Viewing Uplifts Community Voices

On May 1, BHRS launched Mental Health Month with a photovoice gallery viewing event. Hosted at 2000 Alameda de las Pulgas, the public gallery showcased 93 Spanish and English Photovoice pieces created by clients and community members. The gallery centered community voices, fostered connection, and created a space for reflection, healing and learning across our system of behavioral healthcare.
