Zachary Lenane, MD MPH
PGY4 Co-Chief Resident, San Mateo-UCSF Public Psychiatry Fellow
Zach is a graduate of the Tulane University of Medicine and completed his undergraduate degree at McGill University. Throughout medical school in New Orleans, he was a leader and case manager at a clinic that provides free healthcare and social services for individuals recently released from jail or prison in Louisiana. He was awarded two APA Helping Hands Grants to begin a peer support group focused on the emotional and practical challenges of re-entry, which he developed in partnership with formerly incarcerated individuals. As a resident, Zach was awarded the inaugural APA/APAF Correctional Public Psychiatry Fellowship for 2020-2022, supporting deeper training and experience in the field. This year, he will also complete the UCSF Public Psychiatry Fellowship simultaneous to his PGY4. His professional interests include public psychiatry, diversion and re-entry programs, PTSD, and psychotherapy. In his free time, he enjoys playing music and surfing.
