Shruti Rajan, MD
PGY4 Co-Chief resident
Shruti Rajan is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, with undergraduate degrees in Neurobiology and Psychology and a certificate in Philosophy from UW–Madison. Before medical school, she worked in rural South India as a William J. Clinton Fellow with the American India Foundation and served as the outreach and education coordinator at NAMI-Dane County, supporting youth mental health and jail diversion programs. During residency, Shruti has focused on nurturing a trauma-informed, equitable care lens in public psychiatry settings – with interests in addiction and mental health care for people impacted by incarceration and immigration systems. She is part of the group of residents providing OUD treatment in the county jails, co-developed a “Diet for Depression” support group for county patients, and is helping integrate asylum evaluation training into the residency. Now in her final year, she will serve as co-chief resident while completing the UCSF Public Psychiatry Fellowship. She is a 2023–2024 MERF Scholar and holds certificates in Global Mental Health: Trauma and Recovery and ECT Practical Course.
