Stacy Williams (she/her), a BMX Champion and business owner, was
born in Shakopee Minnesota. Stacy’s family is her everything –
She has raised 6 children from her South Dakota Reservation and
Minnesota Reservation, and she has a partner of 10 years and a
dog named Chinook. Stacy is driven and passionate by
work that aligns with her values of justice, humility, bravery,
and honesty. Her personal experiences helped her
understand the pain and harm that is caused by inequities within
the system. Having a multiracial background, including Native
(Lakota/Dakota) and Scottish ancestries,
Stacy encountered multiple challenges but persisted
with love from those around her, especially from her Native
relations and Scottish Grandfather.
Stacy continues to be motivated in her work to address the gaps
and the invisibility of Native Americans within the nation. She
works to give a voice to her people, break down misconceptions,
and share the truth of their history and culture.
In her work as the Behavioral Health and Recovery Services,
Internship Coordinator of the Workforce, Education, and Training
team, Stacy’s hard work and energy have resulted in an increased
pool of students and a strong program that is constantly growing
to provide amazing experiences for both interns and clinical
supervisors. She values the deep relationships with her
colleagues and with the students that she supports.
Stacy’s work continues to fill her spirit and her heart as she
strives to live a life of meaning where differences are
celebrated. The beautiful words of her Native Lakota (Sioux)
people,
“Čaŋkú wašté waŋ mayáni kta ča. Oyáte kiŋ wačíŋíyápi yé.”
means You need to walk a good road because the people are
depending on you. Stacy continues to walk her path with the hope
that with courage, people can continue to lead with their hearts
and in doing so, serve the greater good.
