COVID-19 Testing

COVID-19 Testing and Contact Tracing

Testing for COVID-19 is available for everyone who lives or works in San Mateo County regardless of symptoms. Call your primary care physician to make an appointment.

San Mateo County has recently increased testing capacity by almost 5,000 tests per week. New appointments and testing locations are now available.

Please click here to learn more and make an appointment.

The COVID-19 diagnostic test is safe, easy and at no-cost to you regardless of where you receive it (insurance may be billed when available). This test will not indicate if you previously had COVID-19.

If you test positive, a member of our contact tracing and care management  team will call you, not only to talk about your recent close contacts but also how we can help support you and your family if you need to isolate. You may be eligible for rental support, economic relief, housing with food support if you need to leave your home to isolate, or food delivery and care for loved ones while you isolate at home. A positive test for COVID-19 can be scary and unsettling, and we want to provide the support you need to focus on your care.

No single person or group of people is more likely than others to spread COVID-19, and everyone is at risk for getting COVID-19 if they are exposed to the virus. Getting tested and following the guidance from your doctor and from San Mateo County Health can reduce the spread of the disease in our community and protect everyone’s health. Remember to avoid gatherings of people outside your household, wear a face covering, and practice social distancing. Our comeback depends on all of us.
