Cultural Humility 101

Course Description:

We all strive to engage effectively with our diverse population of customers, patients, and colleagues. Cultural humility offers one approach to engage with the ever-changing dynamics of culture and difference, power and privilege, as we go through our day-to-day work. This collaborative and interactive training will provide attendees with an opportunity to engage and explore these concepts as we all continue to work towards fostering inclusion in the workplace. 

Target Audience: BHRS Staff and Providers

 Learning Objectives include:

  • Understand how the work of reversing health disparities is located in the historical legacy of social activism in the United States.
  • Review and explore common definitions of words often used in the field of health disparities work, in order to achieve common understanding.    
  • Practice using the tools of cultural competence and Cultural Humility in your work place.

Cultural Humility training is a BHRS mandatory training required for all Staff. Please check your transcript on LMS and note whether you’ve:

 (A) never trained;

 (B) trained more than 3 years ago; then refer to the steps below.

 

To check your transcript:

  1.  Log in to Okta using your County desktop username/password: http://smcgov.okta.com/
  2. Click on LMS Career
  3. Click Transcript

4. Select “Completed” in the drop‐down menu to view if the date the training.

Time:        9:30a-12:30p or 1:00-4:00p

                  College Heights Room, Room 468 (4th floor)

                  San Mateo, CA

Parking Permit required, will be emailed out to registered  attendees
