Applied Suicide Intervention Skills 2-Day Training (ASIST)

Course Description: ASIST is a two-day, two-trainer, workshop designed for members of all caregiving groups. Workshop instructors take a five-day training for the trainer course and agree to be part of a quality control program that supports them in their trainer roles and encourages them to provide feedback to the developers of ASIST.

The objectives of this training are to:

  • Provide caregivers with emergency “First Aid” skills for helping persons at risk of suicidal behaviors
  • Identify person at risk and estimate degree of risk
  • Intervene with person to reduce risk and connect with resources

Target Audience: This training is for all caregivers – any person in a position of trust. This includes professionals, paraprofessionals, and lay people.

DUE TO THE LIMITED AVAILABILITY OF THIS TRAINING:  EVERY APPLICANT MUST TURN IN AN APPLICATION, AND WILL BE NOTIFIED IF THEY HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED INTO THE TRAINING.  THERE IS NO ONSITE REGISTRATION ON THE DAY OF THE TRAINING.
