Robert Cabaj, MD

Dr. Cabaj graduated from Harvard Medical School and completed his psychiatry residency at the Cambridge Hospital program at Harvard. He is currently the Medical Director of the Behavioral Health and Recovery Services, an integrated system that delivers and monitors mental health and substance abuse services for San Mateo County. He is an Associate Clinical Professor in Psychiatry at the University of California, San Francisco, a board certified psychiatrist, a certified addiction medicine specialist and maintains a small private practice of psychiatry. His areas of expertise and publication include administration, substance abuse, gay and lesbian mental health, HIV/AIDS. He co-authored/edited “Textbook of Homosexuality and Mental Health” and “On the Road to Same-Sex Marriage”. He is currently a Northern California Psychiatric Society Representative to the American Psychiatric Association’s (APA) Assembly and on the APA Council on Healthcare Systems and Financing. He is Co-Chair of the California Psychiatric Association’s (CPA) Public Psychiatry Committee and member of the CPA Government Affairs Committee. He also serves as Treasurer for California Public Protection and Physician Health, Inc.
