John L. Herbert, MD

Dr. Herbert graduated from Gustavus Aldolphus College and the University of Minnesota Medical School and completed his psychiatric residency at San Mateo County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services. He serves as the Assistant Program Director of the Psychiatry Residency, Medical Director of the South County Mental Health Clinic, and previously served as Acting Medical Director of San Mateo County Mental Health Services. His academic titles include Assistant Clinical Professor (affiliated), Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Stanford University School of Medicine and Clinical Associate, Department of Psychiatry, Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. His awards include the George Ginsberg Charter Fellowship from the American Association of Directors of Psychiatric Residency Training and the San Mateo County Faculty Award. His interests include the treatment of severe mental illness and administrative psychiatry.
