The Native and Indigenous Peoples Initiative supports the health and wellness of Native American and Indigenous peoples in San Mateo County.

Description

NIPI promotes culturally respectful practices, increases access to behavioral health services and creates spaces that honor history, tradition and identity. The initiative is supported by Behavioral Health & Recovery Services through its Office of Diversity & Equity.

Service Focus

Culturally grounded education and outreach, stigma reduction, language- and culture-responsive services and connections to care for Native and Indigenous residents.

Membership

Open to Native and Indigenous community members, families, allies, providers and partners.

Key Functions

Creates culturally respectful spaces for connection and healing, raises awareness of Native and Indigenous perspectives in county services, provides outreach and education and advocates for equitable, culturally responsive care.
