Diana Rohini LaVigne
Chief Communications Officer


Diana Rohini LaVigne oversees San Mateo County Health’s communications to residents, commuters, staff, partners, and the press. Her office also facilitates the public communications of San Mateo County Health’s internal divisions, units, and programs. It oversees the website ( and social media channels and serves as the voice of public health during a response to a disaster.

LaVigne has a been a communications executive for over twenty-five years in health care, media, and the non-profit sector in Boston, Ft. Lauderdale, New York, and the Bay Area. As a journalist and community advocate, she has worked extensively in the Indian American community, promoted the environmental and health benefits of bicycling, and pushed for greater workplace diversity.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Harvard University and studied theology toward a master’s degree at Hebrew University in Jerusalem. She completed the California Naturalist certification program from the University of California, Berkeley, the Public Health for Parks and Recreation program at the Eppley Institute for Parks, and the FEMA-approved advanced public information officer course from the California Specialized Training Institute.

LaVigne loves to scuba dive with sharks and to organize group camping trips for first-time campers from minority communities.
