Harley-Riding Santa Delivers Gifts to Kids at San Mateo Medical Center
Public invited to meet Santa and help brighten young patients’ holidays

News

WHAT: On Saturday, December 10, the Golden Gate Harley Owners Group (HOGs) and Santa will rumble into San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC) to deliver thousands of gifts for children who receive care at the medical center during the holidays. This year’s Holiday Toy Run marks the 27th anniversary of the event.

The public and media are invited to cheer on the riders, meet Santa, and attend a free reception hosted by SMMC volunteers and staff.

At the reception, Harley riders and visitors will place gifts for kids under a holiday tree. The gifts will be delivered to thousands of children who are receiving care at SMMC’s hospital, dental and community clinics this holiday season.

“Santa’s got a lot of stops to make—hence the Harley—and we’re so happy to be one of them,” said Glynis Carreira, SMMC’s volunteer coordinator. “For 27 years, the roar of the bikes and Santa riding up on his shining Harley have signaled the start of the holiday season at San Mateo Medical Center, and we’re so grateful for the continued generosity of the riders and public who make our young patients feel so special during the holidays.”

More than 2,000 new, unwrapped toys for babies and kids through age 17 are needed. Donations can be made in advance by calling (650) 573-3731, or anyone can bring a new, unwrapped toy to place under the tree at the event.
