We care about the emotional and physical health of all Chinese individuals, families, and children living in San Mateo County. When people work together, they can make a big difference to improve the overall health of our community. The Chinese Health Initiative was created in 2007 as a way to join people together who are interested in working to improve the health and well being of our Chinese community.

The vision of the Chinese Health Initiative is to:

  1. Help people learn about different health issues and services that are available, empowering them to make decisions about their health and the health of their loved ones.
  2. Advocate for services to be in the appropriate language and culturally appropriate, encouraging more people to seek services within their community, which can also help prevent disease before it happens.
  3. Work together with the community to increase outreach and referrals.

And it can be even more successful with your help. For more information, see the Chinese Health Initiative Brochure or follow us on our Facebook page.

Help make a difference. Join the Chinese Health Initiative.

We encourage anyone interested in improving the health and well being of the Chinese community to participate. Whether you’re a County employee, contractor, community-based organization, consumer/client, family member, or someone who lives or works in the community, join us and help make a difference. See below for information about monthly meetings.

Chinese Health Initiative is funded by the Mental Health Services Act (Proposition 63).
